Power steering hose failure - warranty issue?

Hi,

I had LR assist out yesterday evening after the power steering went. He found a loose seal at the connection with the steering rack. He did a temporary repair but told me to get the car into my dealer today to check his work and ensure there was no other issue.

I've just had a call from the dealer to say the repairer had done a good job, but unfortunately their work (no idea exactly what they have done yet - but I'm guessing just a check and hopefully fluid flush and refill) will not be covered by the warranty (LR extended warranty as an approved used car) so I've got to pay them £80!

I told them to think again as I do not consider this a wear and tear issue or a consumable part.

Can you see any way that they might be right before I blow a gasket with them in the morning?

Thanks.
