Steering knock
Further to a previous post, I am suspecting the lower universal joint on the steering column is causing my slight knocking - jumping off a kerb... turning etc.
Today I jacked up the car and removed the front drivers side wheel... with a pair of mole grips holding the shaft where it goes into the steering rack and wifey holding the steering wheel as rigid as possible (holding against one side of the steering lock stops)... rocking the grips clockwise/anti clockwise I get about 5mm (total) of movement.
So this is making a twisting action from the bottom UJ up to the steering wheel... is the lower universal joint worn? The Large One at Yeovil said this UJ is likely to be worn on a car it's age (2005) so I was just finding a way of proving it before adding it to my Land Rover Yeovil 'basket'

Might also be track rod ends (either/or both ends)
Other sources of 'knocking' can also be bottom swivel ball joints, ARB bushes and/or ARB drop linksNever get mad - get even !!

Lovely!! I know where to find the ARB bushes and can probably work out where the drop links are as well (the bushes look fine to me)... have you any photos of where I'd find the track rod ends and the bottom swivel ball joints?
