Major Rant!!!!!
Right here goes....
Just MOT'ed the D3 (not by LR) and the only issue was front wipers.
Booked in for a third service on 06/06/11 and then I was informed the warranty is 5 days out.
Missed the letters due to being away.
"No problem, just make the call and I will sort it out when I come in for the service" says I....
Oh no Mr Mac, due to it running out we need to do a pre-inspection before we apply for the warranty.
Which is getting on for £200:00......
Now common sense should prevail here, Just MOT'ed and your doing a service that will highlight any issues, isn't that enough...
Apparently not.....
Now here's the kicker, put my case to another dealer and they have not got an issue with using the service as a pre-inspection.
Told the first dealers who were not impressed....
Your thoughts please...
Regards..

There's much better warranties out there than LR's, which isn't actually LR. It's Car Care Plan with a LR badge.

Have a look through Fin & Ins section, lots in there. Re better, Warranty Direct cover wear & tear, a major get out for the CCP/LR cover. Plus you should be looking at £600 rather than the £800 plus £200 for your inspection. OK, no LRA cover but that's cheap, esp RAC through Tesco Clubcard vouchers. I've just renewed my WD cover as had no problem claiming and cover is best I can find. Don't expect the same level as manufacturer's warranty where every rattle can be done under warranty, if you want that you'll need to buy a new one.
PS Best to get before your L4 warranty dies as then no 90 day exclusion for wear & tear. Ignore their silly quote from t'internet, they will phone you back with about half of that. We can guide you through what you need to ask for within your price, it's a case of haggle hard knowing what their limits are.

If I put in an independent it is alot cheaper, £640 v £860 compared to a dealer...
Do I accept the quote or ring them, If I accept its off to the payment page.
I would like to screw them down to wear and tear etc...
Cheers Boys...

Above is based on my experiences, others have had issues with WD so worth doing a mooch through the WD thread to get a balanced view.

Mac that's a good deal. Are you getting Wear & Tear from day 1 as you are coming from a warranty?

Unsure, after he stopped rattling off what was covered I just wanted to pay and get back to the forum.
I have to call the guy tomorrow with my MOT details, I will attack him with the 14 days cooling off period if he refuses...

ISTR if you have no gap between manufacturer's & WD's then it's in the T&C that there is no 90 day exclusion. If there is a gap there would be an exclusion gap but that might be negotiable. Remember you need to show your last service was done on time/miles as they ask for invoices. If it's not in the +/- 1000 miles or 30 days worth getting their OK on it.
No cheap insurance co, D3 through NFU but coz of mods & offroad cover, Bemmer & Jazz through Privilege. New BM half the price to insure of 5 year old D3.

That's because a 3 tonne motor in a pile up is gonna smart, plus more desirable than your German taxi Del "you cannot teach stupid people to do clever things"
