There seems to have been a change in how the site displays new messages. It seems to keep resetting the point from which it is calculating what it considers to be the messages that are "new" to me.
I log in when I start the computer but may not be able to go through all of the list of new messages right away. When I come back and refresh the page I see only new messages from the previous refresh, and so miss all the messages I didn't look at the first time. I now have to use the function to look at previous 24hours to make sure I'm not missing something, which rather defeats the purpose of the "new" function.
Is this happening to other users, or is my ISP disconnecting and reconnecting from the site without me knowing?A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. Yes, I've noticed that too lately, specially if I log in from my iphone then get back home and use my desktop PC, I often find the "new post" list is empty Clive

All normal here TBH ...nothing missing 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
I'm not convinced it's not the way that MAC's operate - as if my Laptop is off, the posts remain unread for a lot longer - with the laptop on, even not looking at the site directly, but perhaps the browser open on something else, and the new posts disappear. Same if I view via my iPhone.Mark.

I have noticed this on other forums as well. I guess it could be a change in the software.
I have a method of seeing posts in the last 24 hours set up for one of my photography forums. Because the link was given to me, I am not sure how it works, but am sure someone on here can shed some light. I keep this link in my toolbar and click on it to update.
At the bottom of the home page, you can press several links to give you the last posts in several time frames - 1hr, 2hrs, 24hrs etc - also your own posts etc.Mark.

Unless I am missing something that only appears to be for specific threads like this one. When in the 'New Posts' page I cannot find anything like this. Be great if it was there.
Best regards

I'm not sure this problem is affecting everyone ...try clearing your cookies and cache and see if that sorts it 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

This is how it has been since I joined. I think when you click on new posts it is assumed you have read them and the counter is reset to zero when you log out, it kind of makes sense as they are no longer new posts.

You are right in so much as if you log out or close the browser then log back in or go back to the browser again it will only show new posts since you last logged out. I'm not sure if what is being reported is occurring when peeps are just refreshing the page or going into another tab and then coming back.21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Always difficult to describe these things so let me see what I can explain.
Let's say I am at work and check 'New Posts'. Perhaps I see a list of 50. Amongst those are a couple that interest me but haven't got the time to look at them.
I then get home and decide I want to reply to some of the posts I saw at work. I would now expect to see the 50 and lets say another 20 new posts. But when I click on 'New Posts' I only get the 20 and not the 50 I saw originally.
This may be exactly what the software is designed to do. However, what would be great and indeed as mentioned what I have for one of my photography forums is the ability to see any new posts in the last 24 hours. This will give me too many but that is not a problem at all. It just becomes an easy way of looking and dealing with later.
If it could easily be put on a button great. If it is too much work don't worry.
Best regards
Chris

Just checked properties for the photography forum button that is on my toolbar:

It is. And it hasn't done it since I joined the site, on any of the three different computers (different OS) I use, until this month.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. Just to confirm - this is what mine does, and it's exactly what I'd expect "new posts" to do.
