Whats the highest that people have put side strips?

My D3 has been damaged again on purpose. small dent in a door and larger dent in a side step. Has not been in a car park so it was not a door dink. Twisted Evil
I think it must be someone against 4x4's Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Thought I might get away with 'covering' the dent with side strips but think it might be a bit high.

I know that they are at many different levels on peoples cars so was just wondering if anybody who thinks theirs are on the 'high side' could do a spot of measuring so that I could do a comparrison.

Cheers

My side strips are about 2 inches above the usual spec height ...they are doing the same thing ...covering a pre-delivery blemish ..the dealer paid for these Wink

Good idea Simon. I will have to get out and measure where the damage is (been trying not to look at it for the last few days Crying or Very sad )
Think it may work out too high but worth a go.

Thanks for the replies

take DG's pic and either PS it yourself or I'll have a bash for you if you mark where they need to be.

But I am no expert like some on here also called Simon Wink

Just a thought - but you might even find that the sidestrips offer much better protection from door opening damage if they are positioned a bit higher. I have side strips on, and they always seem a little low to do the job properly to me!!!

(Yes, it's an odd spec - but I like it!)

I too find the dealer fitted side strips a bit low for my liking (standard LR height according to the instructions). I now leave the vehicle in offroad height when I park in a carpark Smile

Always look to see where the door of the car parked next to me will hit my door... then again, a van may be there by the time I get back and no amount of protection will be good enough for those that don't give a hoot about bashing others vehicles.

A pain but part of lifes rich pattern of annoyances.
