I would like to know from someone who has fitted Cooper STT's if they are satisfied with them. Also how bad do they rub, and in what situations (i.e. Access mode, etc). I can get used to extra tire noise so thats not much of a problem for me, I don't ever drive with the radio not on anyways.
Looking for replacements for my wrangler hp's which should never have been put on this car in the first place.

I got the cooper STT's for my D3 they are a great tyre tho very noisy on the road, they rub abit on the rear wheel arch but not to bad considering the size of the tyres.
I got a few pics in my gallery.

When do they rub? How good are they in the mud?

I've got STTs on my 17" wheels and there is no rubbing.
They are significantly noiser, but then the D3 is so well insulated, it isn't a problem. They are only rated to 99mph though, so not ideal for motorway speeds. The ST tyre would be better if you're considering using them on the road.
I haven't used them in the mud too much yet. Although when I did, I did get stuck once in a place that a Shogun with road tyres got through just before me. Anyway, the STTs have a good reputation and are meant to be very good in the mud. I have some pics in my gallery. Matt

I have a set of stt's on a set of 17" rims which I purchased specifically for off highway use.I think that they are very good tyres for the purpose for which they were designed. However they would not be my first choice as the only tyres for my vehicle. They are very noisy and seem to get worse as they wear;steering response is not as sharp as a HP/AT tyre;the reinforced sidewall gives a significantly rougher ride on sealed surfaces;braking distances increase as you can feel the tread squirm under hard braking. The fact that they are a bit heavier than normal tyres and have a lower speed rating may be a factor also for some. I think that most Mud Terrain type tyres are best left in the garage for that special time when we are allowed to get away from the 9-5 life in suburbia. TDV6 HSE Zambezi/Tundra

Chris200100,
What size are these STT's (275/65/18")? They look like they are on the 18" wheels
First person I've seen to fit 32" tyres.
Where do you fit the spare?
Macburns,
I've got the 17" STT's and they don't rub anywhere. Spare fits in the spare's place.
They are reasonably good in the mud but still clog up in the sticky stuff.
They whine on the bitumen and it is even louder with the window down. People can hear you before they see you (Not really)

yeah should have said they are 275/65/18's.
They rub on the front part of the rear wheel arch on the bit that sticks out only does it when the wheel goes fully in the arch tho i've only notcied it going around corners a bit fast.
The 17's don't rub

Simon,
You better check on legality of fitting 32" rubber on a D3 which came out with 30" rubber.
I think you will find roadworthiness state you can go up to 15mm bigger in diameter. I couldn't find it on the Vicroads website but I've read it somewhere.
Best to check first.

Chris - what size tyres are you running? Are they the 17" performance alloys?

no they are the standard landrover style one 18" wheels with 275/65/18 tyres.
They are great off road as they give you a extra inch clearence.
