New Disco3 Owner - Insurance and Warranty Experience
Hi, I just thought I would share my experiences over the last few days as I go about sorting insurance and warranty for my intended Disco. I'm looking at buying an 05 SE with 110k miles on the clock. Recent service had the belts done, rear bushes, one front arm and something on the diff.
Adrian Flux who I already have my car insurance with quoted me £640. My local A Plan office quoted £440 with £325 excess no off road. A Plan Thatcham £400, £200 excess with off-road use 7500 miles pa. Worth phoning Thatcham direct.
Warranties. This is where I am still unsure what to do. The dealer is offering AutoGuard 3 months on the engine and gearbox. I could also pay £250 for their Premium cover which seems to cover most things mechanical and electrical but has a no wear and tear clause.
Warranty Direct will do both 12 month (plus 1month free) MajorCare at £400 and SecureCare at £730 after being discounted. Betterment won't be removed so will have to pay 50% parts.
I'm aware that given mileage and age the bills may add up and am realistic about the costs that could be incurred. I've never had any warranty before so am not sure really which way to go.

Just thought I would top this off I decided on a Warranty Direct SecureCare 13 months for a smidge over £700. On the train to pick 'Hank' up. Excited.
