Bad vibration and shaking then stops after stop and re-start

Hello from across the pond.
This is my third Disco and loved them all. Java Black 2002 Disco and Wife has 2002 Vienna Green ,aka Vinnie.
However, and thats one of the largest howevers I've ever had to use. Traded the Java Black for 2005 Disco 3 SE new. Now has 7500 miles on the clock.I have had almost everthing go wrong with this beast that's been posted here on this sight. A very valuable sight to say the least.
The problem I'm having now is stange and I had to post it and ask for help.
At speed of 60-80 or so mph a vibration starts from the rear, progressively getting worse (i.e. the rover shaking bad like a flat tire or somthing).
So I pull over get out and look, but nothing. Take off again and everything is fine. This the second time he has done this, the first was at 2500 miles.
Have all the upgrades on the computer. Whats got me concerned is how to fix if its not broke? That is to say how to show the dealer for a fix?
And the really strange thing is with all the faults I still love this Rover!!!!

And if it were, is it at all possible for a vibration like that of a 6.o Earth quake to be created from an open window?

Its worse! at those speeds with a rear window down it sounds like a fully loaded Sikorsky is hovering in the boot... er.. Trunk! Give it a try.

Something to do with it being so airtight the air can't get back in as quick as it's being sucked out ISTR

Was there not a few cases of the parking brake sticking on, and binding very badly? I am sure there was someone who had this and nearly set the thing on fire!

The rear window down does test the ear drums though.

it must be mechanical though? does the prop have any sort of balance weights or something that might get dislodged and then re-seated when stopped?

did you notice any similarity in the two events? speed, road type, conditions etc.? The harmonic vibrations caused by having a rear window open can feel like the vehicle is vibrating, where it is only the change in air pressure causing you (and the headlining) to vibrate... give us a bit more info and hopefully we can steer you in the direction of the cause Wink

Good afternoon,

I did try it and man you're not kidding, it sounded like two C5A's and a couple of CH47's and a Sikorsky having a wrestling match in the back.
But when I've experenced the problem I'm having I'm poss. the windows were closed. Funny thing though the ossillations created by the windows open at speed caused the Rover to shake similarly.
