Norto, any omni-directional antenna will not work as well as a directional one. It will be less effective in weak signals areas and will have more 'ghosting' from sigmals reflected from nearby hills and buildings. Even a simple 2 element directional one will perform better, and if you can mount it near the door it will make life easier when you are turning it for best picture..

Omni ones in the UK are useless unless you are in a very good reception area. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Probably not relevant to Australia but for info this is a link is to "Grade" who make a very good amplified directional aerial. Grade’s technical people are helpful and will give you the design frequencies if you require them.

Clearly not the omni you are asking for but in my experience it is leagues better than all Omni’s I have experience of, and as you can twiddle it from inside the van it does what the Omnis do without having their ghosting disadvantage.
