Am I doing something wrong? Half of the motorway disappears into a monster sized blindspot? Cars, lorries busses all disappear for minutes on end like a Bermuda Triangle.

Using your mirrors often helps reduce the effect of the blindspot - which IMHO is no worse than other large vehicles I'm owned

I knew keeping my eyes open had something to do with it - I will try to remember tomorrow on the Motorway.
But seriously - I have had other 4x4s and not noticed this before.

Hang on a minute, there are two different types of mirror glass, one is flat and the other is convex. The convex glass gives a much wider angle of vision in the side mirrors.
When I got my mirror smashed by an errant Transit van, the dealer first gave me a flat glass replacement and it was crap! when I took the car back and showed them, they discovered that they had supplied the wrong part. Once the convex one was installed, it was back to normal.

Gareth - I think you could be onto something. I have not experienced anything like this before.

I saw a Chrysler design engineer with a pair of them hanging around Solihull the other day. What I need is something with a little more rear left vision.

Why so much interest in whats going on behind you...this afterall is the past. ......maybe you should just concentrate on the future instead.21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I did look into the future - that was the D3. Now I just want to get into the left hand lane without "TW4ting" anything.

I found on both the D2 and less so with the D3 if you did not point the left hand mirror down slightly, it was easy to drive straight into a low slung sports car.
It requires more care when moving than a normal car, but after a couple of close calls you tend to have a second look before moving over.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

After driving the Fjoord, I really appreciate the Mirrors I had on the D3. I never had a blind spot.
Of course, I always do a head check to be sure out of habit mostly. Dave

You should not rely on taking a glance in one mirror then manoeuvring. (not saying you did) When on a motorway you should be aware of vehicles coming towards you from the rear “either side†using all your mirrors, then as the vehicles approach you can watch them with your side mirrors. There is a small blind spot but its no worse that any other vehicle out there. Its not a problem anyway because you should know there is a vehicle in it regardless of the size of the blind spot. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
