Just back from spending 9 days in the Lake District
Now I know this will be tame for some of you guys but for us we are complete newbies at the off road stuff. So don't laugh OK
One of the best holidays we have had even better than America and all that.
We thought ok got a discovery so we bought a explorers OS map and decided to do a few geen lane routes.
This one was by far the worse
Not sure the pictures do it justice was scary in some parts and a few very very tight turns.
Enjoy and some of our Postman Pat Van []
first stage and we thought this is ok

Can I just say once we completed the route we got to the bottom only to find we could not get through the cap between the farm buildings ( well we couldn't anyway maybe we got our approach wrong) so we had to do the route backwards again.
These pictures were taken once we had got to safe ground and new we could get back to the single track road with no probs.
I am sure some to the walkers/ramblers had a good laugh what with Allan and I shouting at each other as he had to direct me round some of the rocks. Stress well thats one word for it. However it has got to be one of the best ways to see the views and have some fun as long as everything goes ok.

Now you know what makes me
looks a great route, either the camera has great night vision ability, or you need to change the time on it

Don't U just hate it when that happens, especially when it has been an "Oh my god" type way there!
Nice pics! Is Superman meant to be out of costume or travelling ingognito!
Did you manage to ding your side runners?? Mine are looking very bruised after one outing! Looks a nice trip. Were the two of you still talking at the end of the hols??
We're planning on doing a ramble through the Lake District when we come out to the UK next year.Have a nice day!

.........see........thats what a mess you get into if you let the women navigate.......
Picture 7? says it all.....(mrs supergirl herself? ) Hands on hips...."its not my fault the council dont maintain the road........... i thought a green lane meant lots of nice flowers and shrubs ."
looks fantastic place.... you did this as a first attempt on your own?
might be tempted ourselves soon - just wondering how the alloys faired?
any 'challenges/experiences' with the D3 to share or did it take you through without any problem?2004 TDV6 HSE Auto Zambezi Silver

when we got to the farm buildings that we couldn't get through had to reverse back up a good bit before we could get the D3 turned to make our escape.

I know that lane, and it is not easy by any measure!
it brings you out at the bottom of the Gatesgarth Pass, but you do have to get past the buildings first!
You did well to get to the buildings, we had a lot of trouble getting around the rocks on the S bend, a Range Rover with us smashed his left front corner in the process!
I did them in my 2a in June and it only just got through, so a D3 is no go.
I found a lot of lanes in the Lake District would be too narrow for the D3.
Nice Pics
