VX04DDU. Does it remind you something |
|
Hi all,
Still no news, so no news bad news.
The loan Disco III arrived, too late, now I have summer time no more so can't have any free afternoon (that means no test). 1 hour away from dealer (excluding test time) means, even deleting lunch time does not allow me to test drive the "thing" as I want (my 40-mile way to work). And the Cairs Blue HSE hasn't arrived yet.
But I saw this nice thing on the internet (VX04DDU) one week ago (don't know if it's still for sale). A very nice V8 SE 10,000 mile old Disco 3, no cruise, no radio on steering wheel, no leather (quite odd the un-cruised car), for nearly 20 grand.
But... it's a '04 model (the flawed ones), only 10,000 miles, and THAT number plate. I think it's one of the factory launch vehicles, left hooker, which has been demobbed by the factory.
Sounded like a great opportunity, but sadly I think it's gone. Well, that "maya gold" or whatever it is did not suit the Disco much.
So as usual, I'm stuck. Or RRS, or D3 Tdv6, or V8, or another D2V8 or just stick with my V8 and Td5 until the latter's leasing expires....
I really hate these decisions (even more than mondays).
Have a nice week Regards, Robert

As soon as I saw it I thought: Hmmm, that reg. number, I have seen it before,
So better walk away. Pre release (07/04), first batch, so a cascade of breakdows nearly assured.
A pity, but a pre-release-out-of-warranty-early Disco 3 is really a risky business. Regards, Robert

Hi Jose Luis!
First I did not recognize you (you changed your avatar huh?)
It was really wonderful in Gois, a nice journey (only if there were some more road posts one would have arrived much earlier), wonderful ride, better landscapes, really good cooking and meals, and plenty of landrovers.
There was another Disco 3, from mikam from clublandrovertt, performed faultlessly, even going downhill in a portuguese "cortafuegos", the disco went perfectly under control even in 2nd low!
A great 4x4, sure, but maybe too heavy (2,7 tons in HSE is too much)
Hope to see you in another meeting
See you here or in clrtte!
Saludos Regards, Robert

Yeah, changed the avatar to something more appropriate
Sounds like the event was a success. Hopefully I´ll be able to make it to the next one (which should take place in Spain, right?).
Did you take any pics? If so, share them!
Saludos,
PS Martin: remember that request about the spanish corner? Perhaps we can settle it when you come down next month (my new pic on the left might turn foretelling about the Morocco crew stopover...). JL Martin

That gold D3 was for sale through Auto Trader in Dec 05 for about £30k, about the time when I was looking to get one. Seemed cheap and then I realised that the VXs were the early run models. Also saw another VX for £28k in a dealership in Southern England - it too had an odd spec (e.g. it was badged 'S' but it had leather seats but no cold climate pack). No longer a D3 owner but still subscribed to multiple threads!

Jose Luis,
The event was a real success. I still have to post my pictures there.
Clarck,
thanks for the info. Seems they are not able to sell it. A 10 grand price drop in 8 months is really big.
A pity, as it looks terrific and has that v8 under the bonnet... But the risk is too high. Warranty will expire in 8 months time, and being a pre-realease one, you never know... Regards, Robert
