I've had my D4 for nearly a year now, and am still looking for some green lanes in Surrey which aren't deeply rutted and thick in mud. Apart from several hundred yards of very flat/boring green lane in Walton-on-the-Hill, I haven't been able to find anything. Is it the general problem that all green lanes in the South East are typically rutted and very wet?
I dont expect anyone is going to post a list of green lanes in response to this, but if you could maybe drop me a PM to suggest one which would be fun for me in my D4 (20" wheels) and my Dad's FL2 (we'll go in convoy), I'd really really really appreciate it.,
We've done lots of off-road driving in the US on fly-drive holidays over the years - especially in California, Utah & Nevada - and driven some fun roads in the Outer Hebrides, but would really like to do something to enjoy our own cars back home.
Thanks everyone. 747_JK

Contact Stu / Countrywide / XTC / Bigcarpchaser / NeilD
They have done many trips around Surrey, and there is a great area around Farnham/Hindhead/Devils Punchbowl.

Thanks Jason,
Yep tis true we have all driven that area quite a bit. There are plenty of lanes around, many that are not deeply rutted, although some pruning will no doubt be required at the moment. I'd need to have a look at memory map to give you specifics, but I'd suggest joining up with a few of us and doing some lanes. We could go one evening, or why not come down to the Southern Area meet? Couple of nice lanes in eastern Surrey A25 \A23 Leith Hill \ Dorking area also
As well as Stu's info you could also check out Surrey County Councils map ...it's not particularly user friendly but if you use the selector on the right hand side you can select byways etc
