Upgrading basic stereo after delivery?
Hi,
I asked this in the middle of another thread, but thought I would post a request for info here as well.
Is it possible to install the upgraded stereo (in other words the cd/radio that is better than the basic one) after delivery - from a breakers yard say?
I think its the premium set.
I don't mean all the extra speakers or satnav, jus the 'head unit'.
The Premium ICE set is €1200 here and I will be getting a vechile from stock (if I purchase - which is likely) so I won't have the time to wait for a special order.
Ta.

I would opt for an aftermarket stereo. I have upgraded the "premium" system with new speakers, amps and crossovers. The sound is great but the stock "premium" head unit is not that good (harmon/Kardon). In typical LR fashion it severely limits your choices for upgrading and ecpansion so I would look for a good quality aftermarket init.

Why don't you ask site sponsors Prestige Audio the question? They should have more idea than any of us.

The simple answer is no. The base model headunit has all the amps etc built in. i think he next model up uses a seperate amp that fit's under one of the seats.
So the wireing is compleatly different. the wiring you need is just not there on the base model.
I thought about doing this, but in the end i settled for adding some sub bass units, it makes a big difference to the overall sound. it fills in the bit of low end that is lacking on the base system.CLUB "Ah Shor it'll be grand"

Has anyone added speakers to the 3rd row of seats, my Disco came with the Logic7 HK unit, but it doesn't have the speakers in the 3rd row. On long trips my children are always asking to turn the volume up.2010 D4 3.0 TDV6 HSE Zermatt Silver
