Has anyone replaced their base radio?? With a double din? Spoke to someone and was told that if it was removed that the vehicle will not start. Is there a work around for this?..Any success stories out there???

It's probable that removal of the IHU will cause all sorts of problems - including not starting, as it is the system timekeeper and also issues wake & sleep instructions via CAN bus...

not really... you'd have to be really determined to take a job like that on. I suppose if the difference was that important, most would upgrade to the high level system when ordering

If you decide you want to upgrade I will sell you my Logic 7 head unit as I am replacing it with an aftermarket unit.

you're double-stuffed with high level ICE as the MOST is tied through it
TBH, I can't see why you'd want to replace it, other than the challenge of doing it
The amplifier from under the seat would also be required, along with the wiring & fibre optics

Your asking far too much in your case DD 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
