Replacing the base radio

Has anyone replaced their base radio?? With a double din? Spoke to someone and was told that if it was removed that the vehicle will not start. Is there a work around for this?..Any success stories out there???

It's probable that removal of the IHU will cause all sorts of problems - including not starting, as it is the system timekeeper and also issues wake & sleep instructions via CAN bus... Sad

I suppose you could strip it out of it's case and relocate elsewhere....

not really... you'd have to be really determined to take a job like that on. I suppose if the difference was that important, most would upgrade to the high level system when ordering

If you decide you want to upgrade I will sell you my Logic 7 head unit as I am replacing it with an aftermarket unit.

you're double-stuffed with high level ICE as the MOST is tied through it Rolling Eyes
TBH, I can't see why you'd want to replace it, other than the challenge of doing it Confused
The amplifier from under the seat would also be required, along with the wiring & fibre optics
