How long does it take for yours to start taking effect.

In terms of releasing the layer of ice from the glass - 30 to 60 seconds. To melt all the ice - depends on the length of your string.

Sitting with your foot on the gas holding 2000 revs helps a lot. Top Tip from Gareth last year, or was it the one before.

mine takes a couple of mins on the D4 where my defender only needs about 30 seconds.

I have noticed that it depends on your battery charge.

After several cold mornings where I had used the FBH to warm the car I started to notice that the heated windscreen
did not work as well as before. I then topped up the battery and the heated screen did the job much faster.

Obviously the heated screen drains a lot of energy, keeping the revs up seems to help when the battery is low.

One of the theories I've seen on the net (everything on the net is true - isn't it?) is that the smart power management cuts out the heated screen if the current is too low, it is after all a luxury and not a necessity.

True, I noticed mine was painfully slow to clear yesterday, but then the engine was just idling. I wasnt driving. But I also have a few wires that are evidently broken as there's a few strips in the centre that dont clear, including a 2" band on the far right which is directly in front of the driver. A bit annoying.

D4 owners may notice that the heated screen doe not come on straight away or at all, as part of the battery management system if the car thinks the battery is too low it wont allow the screen to power up.

Hi Nick,
I'd get the screen swapped out (warranty).

Best Wishes,
