Dropped y 08 GS off yesterday with a history of clutch/XY sensor mishaps and one instance of clutch slip. GSK asked for a couple of days for diagnosis etc. Rang today to tell me a new clutch flywheel and slave cyclinder had been fitted. Car cleaned as well Exclamation

Must admit to being impressed with efficiency and service from their Service Dept (mainly Steve) Thumbs Up

Pjv, was this done under warranty. I ask because mine came up with the EPB warning light , and after resetting the xy sensor its been ok, but after reading a few posts that say its the clutch on its way out I am a bit worried. Its in for a service on friday, and I dont know if I should mention it or not. The clutch feels fine and its not slipping at all, I just wonder if I should say it slips now and again. Its a jan09 with 22k. Thanks Chris.

Chris
yes, was done on warranty.

I have never been very convinced about clutch from new. My first xy fault was within 6 month from new. Reality was that I only had 1 slipping incident but I'd lost confidence that clutch would be ok after warranty expired. Service guys at GSK said that clutch springs are a weakness and that any slipping of clutch results in high/low spots on flywheel leading to minor symptons - don't think there was significant wear although they were very busy so didn't ask to see original. I did report xy incidents to them both at first service and at other times so that they had a log of faults (when cleared they are not held on memory)

GSK were very good - they understood the 'confidence' thing and suggested replacement without undue prompting from me. I think a few here have reset xy and been happy long term without reoccurrence so not sure I'd big it up just yet

Hope this helps

Thanks pjv, I think I will just mention it, and make sure they log it. Its still got a years warranty left so I will see how it is in six months. Thanks Chris.
