Jacking up a Disco 3
I remember reading somewhere that it is possible to part jack the car and then let the air suspension lift the desired wheal. Has anybody also read this if so how is it done. As last night had a puncture so had to change tyre in the dark wishing I could remember how to lift the wheal without having to lift the car on the jack so high.

I pretty sure it's not possible for the air suspension to "lift" a wheel, the system is designed to apply downward force only to a suspension strut/leg in order to maintain ride height and maintain contact with the wheel/ground.Clive

Yes , have done it and it works.
Release the wheel nuts first
Set to normal height, put a bottle jack under the the arm strut of the wheel. lift the arm strut approx2 inches, slowly release back to an inch and voila the wheel suddely lift(the car actually lowers so the wheel hangs free, remove and change,)
Start engine,set to off road height , climb in underneath and remove jack,set back to normal height.
Done it now on 4 occasions with 3 different D3 and all worked fine
O yes , tighten nuts off course

Jacked the car today and it cocked it's leg and raised it itself, made getting the wheel off so much easier

I only start the engine to set to off road height to make it easier to remove the bottle jack.
My experience are that when you lower the wheel when finished I can never get the jack free, so to start and go to off road height you simply pull the jack out.
