45k service with a non LR Pollen filter

Hi Chaps,
can you help?
I am just about to book a 45k service, had a couple of quotes,
Local garage (friend of mine) will do it for £225 all in but not using a Genuine LR pollen filter as they are £30 quid dearer than the unipart equivilent & he tells me its exactly the same produt..inc the product code....everything else is genuine LR from T.H White.
Will this affect my warranty? Question Question
Local dealer service is £370.

Cheers

You want to compromise a warranty for the sake of £30 Rolling Eyes The rules are stated, break them at your peril.

In the grand scale of things, cost of vehicle, insurance and maintenance, and other cr@p people stick on their cars that have no functional use. £30 is nothing compared to the grief if you ever had a warranty claim and it was found out, I know it is only a pollen filter but why give wriggle room? You could not honestly sell it as a vehicle that has been serviced using ALL LR parts, we all know it is a con as parts are identical, but that is the price you pay for getting involved in premium brands that require revenue for all their bull Censored it poncy marketing, someone has to pay!

what damage could the aftermarket pollen filter do?

Nothing in my opinion.

why would that item cause you to lose your warranty? eg if your turbo blew up, egr valves went, suspension bushes worn out within the warranty period, why would they refuse to fix them just because your pollen filter was not genuine?? Confused

anyway how would they find out.......

ok if your blower motor died and they opened up the filter compartment and seen that.....then I guess they would try and wriggle out of it........
