Driving Lamps (side lights)
hey guys.
just fitted by driving lamps and thought while i was there I would fit some side lamps.
All I had to do was whip the cover off the lamp. drill a hole in the plastic. pop in the side lamp (with holder) into the hole, run and splice the cable into the existing loom and away we are.
i haven't worries about a relay in this case as the disco's lights have 2 holders for side lights anyway so I figure she can take it. (plus i fitted LED side lights for a much lower load)
anyways, this is what it looks like, what you think?
Oh why does land rover ownership have to be such an "adventure"

Like it DK
I'm thinking about fitting additional lighting but can't decide which ones........I fancy the 'inset into grill' option but don't fancy all the mucking about with the relays & wiring - I'm sure to set the thing on fire

Side Topic - Excellent pics - I think the Winch option A-bar with the missing lower section actually looks better than the non-winch version. Assume you do not have a James Bond style hidden winch under the number plate?
Was this a deliberate choice?

Apologies all !!
Just had a look at a pic of my old 'A' frame and I'm wrong !!!
Amazing the little detail one forgets as time marches on.
Now where's the big Dunce's hat and I'll go and sit in the corner. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

like the lights where did you pick them up from are they the genuine land rover lights. Was thinking of fixing some on before the bad weather arrives this winter. Don't be blinkered vision, see the world in colour.

Looking very good indeed. Presumably these run on a seperate switch and are independent of the main beam?

hey guys, thanks for your comments
They are genuine land rover lamps and it is the winch style A -bar. The plan was to fit a winch at a later date but I really like the look without it so may have to go for the 'james bond' style if i do go for one.
Got my parts from "The Large One" on here from Yeovill Land Rover, delivered very quickly at a good price. (cheapest I could find anyways). awsome.
The side light portion isnt on a seperate swich but comes off of the side light wiring behind the headlamps. This is an extra I have added myself and isnt part of the stock lamps. It is simple enough to do though as the reflector for the lamp is plastic, so its simplally drilling the hole, fishing out the bits of plastic. (i used my vac) and poping in the side lights.
The Driving lamps are on a seperate swich (included in the kit) with all the wires and connections. it does mean cutting a hole in the dash but the facia proveded covers it all up.
However, the function does have to be enabled in the ECU. (either by a land rover appoved service centre or "wiggs")
A Word to the wise though.
If you arent 100% confident in a DIY install then get someone else to do it. I did mine with the A-bar and it goes much further into the car than I thought, at one point with the bumper/arches/grill/lights removed I thought it would never go back together. It took me 2 evenings but I am quite "james may" about it all, naming my spanners and bolts and such!Oh why does land rover ownership have to be such an "adventure"

Side lights in spots
Can i ask what type of lamps/bulb/led and holders ,and where you got them from as i would like to do this mod. I'm very interested in the bulb holders and wether they can keep rain and water out of the spot lamp.Cheers, MikeCM Caddy
