Do Dealer Service Reps Get Paid On Commission? |
|
Do the service reps at LR Dealerships get paid on commission? As in do they get paid more the larger my tab is?
I've been using the same service rep at my dealership for a year or so but the last time I was there he was busy so another service rep jumped in to help. The new guy has quoted me some things I wanted done the next time I'm in, but if they are paid on commission, I'd rather bring the business back to my original rep - he's been great to work with.
Anybody know the etiquette on that? 2013 LR4 HSE lux | Santorini Black | 5.0 V8

it varies from dealer to dealer. They tend to get a bonus for anything they can 'upsell' as in if they do a vehicle healthcheck and if the owner authorises any work that has been reported, then the service rep. usually receives a small commission My D3 Build Thread

Hmm. So best to let the new guy get the commission since he quoted the work or be loyal to my long-term service rep and let him get the commission? 2013 LR4 HSE lux | Santorini Black | 5.0 V8

Totally depends on the company who run the dealership and their policies. Where I work we get a bonus if we hit our monthly combined labour sales and parts profit targets. I keep banging the drum for commission when up-selling from an EVC as this is what the company wants us to do. EVen if it's a couple of quid for a set of brake pads for example, but we get nothing. Within the VAG group it seems quite rare to be paid on up-selling from each bill, it is more common to be paid a group bonus at the end of each month.
I gave a service customer a bill for £12,500 for one vehicle. Some commission on that would have been nice!
cheers Alex
