Hi Guys
I know I'm young (early twenties), but surely im not different to any other customer?
I just dropped of my disco3 at Stratstone swansea for the camber to be done and the woman behind the service desk was serving a man (much older) before me and asked whether he was waiting or going and would he like some tea and biscuits etc etc, my turn came, she said, "do you know how much the camber is?" my reply, "no, it needs doing regardless" (I had recently changed lower wishbones and it was way out!) she said "it's 2 hours labour", bla bla bla, two flippen hundred squid! No tea or coffe and a sharp thank you, goodbye.
It sounds too much for doing that work and unbelievable that they treat the younger generation like that! I was brought up with manners and work hard for what I do! (horse business ) I'm not some lil nicking stuff fro
People, or damaging property!!! I'm absolutely furious!!!

Not sure how much they charge for 4-wheel alignment itself but I know the Discovery 3 labour rates at Stratstones Cheltenham were around £70-80/hr +VAT last year, and it's not a simple job of doing it either. The vehicle should have a full tank of fuel (at least that was what I was told when it was done under warranty on our D3 5 years ago) and needs to be set in "Suspension Geometry Mode" or something like that.
If you're unhappy at how they treated you, I'd suggest you send an e-mail with a link to this thread to the dealer principle asking him if he was aware that he staff treated their customers with such varying standards and see how he responds

Damn, I got there with the tank almost empty.
Im waiting in a garden centre cafe for it to be done, so I'll see how they are when I pick it up. I'm not wealthy in the slightest, I use it for towing and it's the much better than everything I've used before otherwise I'd of gone for a cheap car and a newer bike.

Wil,
Got to agree, have to yet to have good service from Stratstone Swansea. Sales staff expect you to grovel and beg to be sold a car... in fact when I called in July to replace my car with a 27k D3 was told to come back next week as they were busy.... needless to say I didnt! Bought privately and all maintenance done by an indie I started off with nothing and Ive still got most of it left.

I don't think I've ever heard the words Stratstone and Good Stratstone used in the same sentence. It would be worse, you could have gone to Stratstone Newport!

Im really Off. After waiting 2 and a bit hours i walked back in to the reception and took a seat, another hour and a half went by before the behind the desk calls me over and says there's been a problem, the battery on the machine died just as it was finishing the "process" and we cannot complete the work, would you like to rebook for next week?
They hadn't even touch the adjustment on the wishbones. and anyway, i thought that diagnostics ran off the vehicles power supply and the camber machine is plugged into the wall???
Anyway, there bloody useless!

In fact, you have a Base model, so Air suspension is not affected & I don't think you'll have ride height sensors without air suepnsion as it would be pretty pointless....
Or perhaps your base model is one of teh ones with Air Suspension? Bodsys Brake Bible

Yep, has air suspension and terrain response. Not sure if it's a de-badged S spec?
My father called them to query why it took so long as i had to take time off work for it to be done and he had the same tone as i did with not very convincing apologies, also, he said that she said it failed halfway through the "process" and could not continue. and it was her fault that it took so long to tell me that it was not fixed. where theres a wil theres a way!

As I said, forward a copy of this thread to the Dealer Principle, but now I'd cc LR Customer Services as well.

Well I use Stratstones although not the Swansea branch and I've never had a problem with them at all. I use the Birmingham branches for both Jag (SWMBO's motor) and my FFRR. But, I know the DP at both sites and all the staff are well aware of the relationship we have.
It's like anything in life, it's not what you know, it's who. I have experienced shocking service at other places and I take no prisoners in complaining vociferously when I do experience ignorance, because that's what it is, ignorance.
If it were me I would be back down there asking to see the DP. I'd give him the opportunity to make things right by doing the work for half price or something, and if I got no joy I would put the whole thing in writing to Pendragon head office with a CC to Land Rover Customer Service Director.
See, the DP 'could' be a decent bloke and you just experienced a regular asshole. There are plenty of ignorant to55ers in the world and a large company like SS will have their fair share. It's only by bringing this to the attention of senior management that any kind of internal 're-training' can be put in place.
If you get no joy with the DP, get his name and PM me. I have ways into the upper echelons of SS so the right people can be made aware of the situation.
I've had half a dozen cars from them to date and personally I won't go anywhere else except where my 2 pals are located. People do business with people, not companies and these blokes will always have my business because of the way they look after me.
The way that Tart treated you is nothing short of disgraceful, regardless of how old, scruffy, clean cut etc you happen to look. The facts are that you are a customer and she should treat you as such. I might have asked which charm school she graduated from before demanding she fetch her manager.

I agree, people buy from people they like and people who respect them for who / what they are.
Moving away from Stratstones, in the last 6 years I've bought new 4 Audis, 2 Mercs, a Saab, a BMW and my D3 all for my family's use. I've always wanted a BMW but the way i was treated by my local dealer lead me to Audi. I went to the show room with hard cash in my pocket ready to buy, but because I wasn't suited and booted or a known customer or didn't fit the 'brand' i was treated with real indifference so I took my business elsewhere.
Buy my reckoning my local BMW dealer has lost over £300k in sales from me plus the servicing and mods because of the attitude of their staff. When I did finally succumb, it was only because of a personal introduction to the DP that i finally bought one, however, when he left it was back to the same old poor customer service. I've now sold it, put the money in my pension and decided to keep the D3 for a few more years.
Kick up a stink and let them know how you feel. You'd think they would take a leaf out of Strastone Bury, looking at the positive responses they get on this site.
The thing these dealerships forget is that whilst we may take our business elsewhere we also tell our friends and colleagues of our experiences! Just as we are doing here.....
