Help with wheels/tyres please
I have now had my first LR - a D3 GS 08 reg - for a couple of months and am really pleased with it. However, I am very much a newbie and find this forum a great help with information. I bought a removeable tow bar from a member within days of getting the car !
I am going to need some new tyres soon and currently have standard 235/70 R17s with not much tread left. I am not planning on off-roading but am spending alot of time in Devon at the moment driving down very muddy and recently icy country lanes.
Have seen on ebay some 18inch wheels with Pirelli Scorpion Zero rated at 111 with 6mm+. They are advertised as off a D3, but having searched for the wheels through the do/do not fit D3 stickies I can not see them and am scared of buying some that don't fit or have wrong loading etc. Listing is at :
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Land-Rover-Discovery...230c7d3d22
They didn't reach the reserve at £363 when bidding closed last night but have been relisted. Previously had a "buy now" price of £450 but none in the relisting. Compared with buying 4 new tyres for my current 17s, it seems as though these could be a reasonable buy ?
Any advice welcome on suitability of the wheels and how much they are worth !

Thanks for the speedy confirmation that they are OK for my D3.
Any guidance from anyone on how much one should pay for such wheels and used tyres

Afraid spare wheels are a bit in demand at the mo, famine and feast with famine now. Shame, as after a single S 18" myself.

Afraid worth what peeps are willing to pay. Not many D3 18"ers on fleabay so things selling at a premium as peeps want 2nd sets for winters or ATs. 6 months ago might have been £100 cheaper.

DSL - Thanks for your help - they went for £450 - same as the "buy now" price a couple of weeks ago. Reserve must have been c £420.
Not sure if putting details on here was such a good idea as may have sparked other interest and pushed price up !!!
I can wait until a more reasonable deal comes along.

Probably not til next spring. Remember D4s now only on 19"ers so supply of new cheap 17s & 18s throttled off. Re posting on here, if anyone was looking for wheels they'd be doing exactly as you & I do, search fleabay. Problem about not checking here is you could easily but a pig in a poke and have to resell them

I doubt if your original comment pushed the price up as you were inquiring as to the authenticity of the wheels, which were mine by the way. An identical set went the week before last for £472.00.

John, Interesting...I guess it's a case of supply and demand ! As you know, bidding on your auction last week reached some £90 less...and well below your reserve.
Shame you did not put them on this forum, as I'd have had more confidence to pay you the £450 you originally wanted. As it was, I nearly bid another £10 in the last minute...but chickened out. Committing to £460 on wheels and tyres you've only seen a photo of is something I am not used to.
You win some...you lose some
