2010 D4 3l diesel - battery not charging. Alternator advice?
Hi all. Charging system warning on the dash and no electricity going to the battery. Small chance it is wiring and a bigger chance the alternator has gone pop, I guess? Any advice for troubleshooting the two alternatives? Safe to assume that the alternator isn't serviceable? Where best to source? And last question, any thought on how far I am likely to get on a full charge and with everything I can turn off turned off? Am Sandton based.
Thanks!

You won't get far at all and will kill your battery in the process, if it's not already fatally wounded.
Do you have or are you an electrical engineer? There are components that can be changed - diode pack if that's where the issue lies.Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

As a follow up, I wanted to check the fuse. The manual says the alternator fuse should be in position 20 in the engine bay fuse box. Strangely, I have no fuse in that position! The rest of the fuses seem to coincide with the manual. Very odd. Might anyone confirm that their d4 is the same? Thanks!

Update. Apparently none of the cars have a fuse in the position indicated in the manual. So at least there is no mystery there. Have charged up the battery and will drive it into the specialist later this week.
