Fuel pressure
Hi All
Bit puzzled I have two Discovery 3 non start 2.7 tdv6
On both low fuel pumps on flow test give me 1.3-1.6 litres of diesel per 60 second
Seems like good flow .
The problems start here
One I have fuel going trough rails to injectors, checked power supply to injectors all good , on first 5 seconds cranking car wanted to start ( small smoke come out egzost ) but don’t I tried easy start doesn’t engaging. The biggest issues is I have no errors or faults codes on gap tool . Am I missing something here?
Just add I have pressure on live data 350-400 bar but soon as stop cranking pressure drops to 0 bar
The second one no errors or faults.
No fuel going trough rails or injectors but live data seems ok I have pressure etc , on stop cranking even pressure is stable at 3.5 bar
I would appreciate directions please

Hi
The more knowledgeable members should be along to help a lot more than myself but just on the off chance have u seen this thread with regards to testing the fuel system
Not wishing to try and teach u how to suck eggs but has the fuel filters been replaced with either genuine or good quality filters along with ensuring ur glow plugs age working ok
Also see on ur gap iid menu ur battery is virtually dead at 12.3 Vdc, really needs to be a minimum with the engine off @ 12.6 Vdc

Hi gstuart
Thank you for your prompt reply, I am new to this so I will try my best to keep within the rules .
This of information is very helpful as getting understand the system better.
Thank you again
Happy Christmas
Check both main Ecu's behind the battery and make sure they are both dry, I had a RRS once that did this this and it was water damage to the Ecu's circuit board.

Hi Flack
Thank you for this definitely will check after Christmas, I have 4 Discovery 3 so can I swap ECU from working one to not working?
This should exclude this possibility?
I fill like to buy Automotive Oscilscope and educate myself in this field 🤦😂

Main ECU is VIN coded… and the critical one. The “other one” (TCM) i am not sure of if it is once installed and flashed..
But the TCM is regarding to non starting not your main concern i think..
Water ingress is easy in that corner (and the other) with devastating effects on those ECU’s
(Been there, luckily only my TCM was blown and a new one can be bought easily, reflashing it with GAP IID and everything was back to normal, but as said, mine did still run, no suspension, special programms etc. Though)Best regards
Harold
Always looking for Pre '55's & Pre war British Motorcycles! knowing or having one for sale? PM please. I visit the UK 6 times a year
Ps. I edit my texts quite often, english is not my native language, so I will edit My “typo’s” etc.
If it turns out to be the ecu, get a second hand one and get somebody to clone it from the old one, its a lot cheaper that way.
You also need to check that the front belt is ok and not jump a tooth or two.
