T H WHITE & AA - they really did go that extra today
Set off at 6.45am with a full diary of collections, heading to my first collection (Eastleigh, Nr Southampton), noticed my headlights were somewhat dull. Pulled over at Membury Services, M4 to clean the lights however 10 miles down the A34 then thought it was working off the new battery, so to make sure I flicked the wipers - I thought!!
Long and short, off at next services (we a very handy Makey Dee's) and on the old blower to the big yellow taxi people, 30 mins later the man arrives and concludes what we'd already suspected - olloxed alternator
On the blower to our friends at THW whilst the yellow taxi man got on with organising recovery of the d3 and car transporter however facing a potential three hour wait, I drove back from Newbury to Swindon with every conceivable devise turned off (including heating, radio, sat nav charger etc) with the taxi van behind me as me wingman. Two miles from Swindon on M4 the battery finally threw a fit (something we'd might have experienced had I got to the first pick up but with a car on the back), gears went, suspension went the works but with the taxi behind I coasted into the hardshoulder, replaced the old one with a brand new loaner from the back of the AA van and headed the 4 or so miles to THW.
During the period leading up to my arrival, THW rang around other local LR dealers to source a new alternator, dispatched their parts van over to MJ FEWS, Gloucester to collect, had a tech on hand for our arrival.
By the time I'd had me first cup of coffee and raided the freebie biscuits they had him in the workshop and on the faultmate just to make sure.
Within 2 hours the new part had been fitted, I'd had the free use of the jet wash/steam cleaner to clean off me trailer (something I'd not be able to do for the past week due to frozen pipes) and hand washed the d3 to boot
So to sum up a very big thumbs up to mr AA, my wingman for the trip and an even bigger thumbs up to guys and girls at THW service/workshop for going above and beyond the call of duty, cheers all

Good News - A dealer that others should look up to setting the right example on how to make us feel better when we hand cash over
Bad News - Is this now classed as the first real "fault" on the intergalactic mileage D3

Character good news there, got it little bit stuck myself last friday on the way home AA man took me to main dealers, parts sorted and replaced all paid for by the AA Breakdown repair policy, they also cover Battery and Alternator
Used them twice this year each claim up to £500 you pay the first £25 http://tinyurl.com/eBay-All-things-D3-Now
ISTR that you were a doubter about THW at one point so glad to hear they've won you over! I've always had great service from them
By the way, we were on opposite sides of the Coped Hall roundabout, just by THWs, one day last week (or possibly the week before). You were coming down from Hook and I was heading towards Brinkworth.
