Aftermarket Bluetooth Packed Up? |
|
My bluetooth has just stopped working, has anyone any idea as to whether it is separately fused or any way that I can tell if its died?
Can't seem to find any documentation on ot at all.
Cheers

Fuse 52 (5Amps) in the CJB supplies the factory fit TCM, I assume it's the same with the dealer fit one. Fuse 58 (10Amps) also provides power to this module, along with many other infotainment systems, so unless there's multiple systems not working, this one should be OK. From memory, the TCM is mounted behind the RHS front footwell kick panel, it may be worth checking the connectors are correctly seated. what, if anything, happens when you activate the steering wheel switches for the phone?

GTR shows the TCM module as being behind the rear RH trim panel but also references one of the two connectors as being in the location above
Slimer's fitted his PTI himself so he should be able to advise on the correct location

Thanks so far, I hit the green phone button this morning and it put the system in to phone mode for a good fifteen minutes. This stayed after a restart and then re-set by itself whilst driving?

Could always be the phone having a blonde moment?
mine did this once when other BT devices were connected to it, cycling the power on the phone cleared it

I've cycled the phone a few times and it tries to connect but just says it can't. When you search for bluetooth devices the Land rover Audio does not come up and so I think there is no signal from the car?

Can't remember which one is which but there's a module behind each of the front centre kick panels with the dealer fit kit (presume factory fit is very similar), bluetooth module behind the left one I think You should be able to reach around and check the connectors are still in both, there are other connectors that go into the IHU but you'd prabably have issues with that too if they were loose
Is it the factory or dealer fit version? The End

Could be worth a 'hard reset' if you've tried cycling the phone power:-
Open bonnet, remove key & close all doors, wait a minimum of two minutes, preferably until the clock display has disappeared (but don't open a door to check )
Disconnect battery negative terminal, leave disconnected for 5 - 10 minutes
Reconnect & try BT connection
All you will have to do is reset the clock time, all other settings are maintained in NVM
It's possible that the BT module has 'frozen' if you have been near a high power radio or microwave transmitter...

If TFCs suggestion above doesn't work there's not much left to check before you have to make a trip to the dealer but you might want to leave it to them anyway.....
The kit takes it's power from a connector that goes inline with the one for the right hand side front 12v socket, if this has come loose it's a proverbial PITA to get to it but is possible, I'll post details if you're willing to try.
Other connections that may cause problems are the steering wheel buttons but you'd have to remove the airbag to check them.
If you get the fitting instructions from OwnerInfo you can work through them and see which parts you're willing to pull apart to check and which you'd feel happiest leaving to a dealer The End

OK, the hard reset worked a treat!
Saved me the trip to the dealers, I'll blame it on the wife's hair straighteners as she went on holiday in tha car last week!!
Thanks again 10forcash.
