is it possible to fit front fogs |
|
Hi what is involved to fit front fog lamps to disco 3. I've seen some lights on ebay and wondered what else is needed. Is the wiring in place already? does it run of the switch for the rears. do you have to tell the system they are installed.
Any advice would be great its an 05 plate if this helps it is an S and has a high line unit.
Thanks

yes, easy to do. All you'll need is the lights and a new light switch. When you remove the bumper you should have the connector in place and you'll also see the outline marked on the inside of where you need to cut the holes. Fairly easy job
use the search function above, plenty on here about it. A happy childhood ... is the worst possible preparation for life.

Indeed andy38: tanters is right. Peace of cake. I just did it myself last week. PM TLO for a new switch. Normally an S does not have the wiring ready in the bumper. So this has to be purchased too.You will have to cut out the holes for the lights. Lots of posts about that here on the forum. Do a search on 'front fog lamps' and you will be busy reading for a few hours. Wiring on the body on the other side is present, even on an S. Plug for front fogs sits behind drivers headlight. Once lamps, wiring and switch fitted, your new front fogs are operational. No enabling is necessary. This is different for headlamp washers. If you fit these, they have to be enabled in the software of the car.
BTW tanters, how did it turn out yesterday with the enabling of your headlight washers? When logic and proportion have fallen sloppy dead, remember what the dormouse said: feed your head. (Jefferson Airplane)

Oh, when you put in the new switch, be aware that there's an extra position on the RHS for 'auto lights', which your car, being a lowly S like mine, won't have.
Therefore, when installed, for the sake of marital harmony ,let your wife know that this position won't activate any lights, and that she should just turn it back one position. This easy tip will prevent her ringing you in alarm in the middle of an important procedure, claiming that the lights have failed and demanding your solution.

Don't know about the wiring, but switch should be round about £25 plus postage. When logic and proportion have fallen sloppy dead, remember what the dormouse said: feed your head. (Jefferson Airplane)
