Bullbar - whats this hole for?

Picked up a bull bar for the D3 recently and was wondering what this hole is for? There are two of them on the 'middle' bar

I dont think its for a numberplate and if for lights, then its on the wrong bar I'd have thought.

Anyone shed any light on it please?

sometimes lights are mounted on A bars "upside down" bolting on from the top rather than the bottom - could this be the case here.

Sometimes if welding tubes the air inside will expand and create a blow hole in the weld, they put the holes in so the air can escape through them and the weld is a continuous circle. I could be wrong, but that was what I was told when learning welding at work.

Cheers Lee, sounds plausible alright Thumbs Up

I nicked this from the gallery (Thanks someone Very Happy ) The tabs are beneath on the middles bar, you can see the two tabs if you look just above the numberplate.

I have the driving lamps off the 'soft' abar and am now wondering how to attach them to this bar - being an LR part you'd think they would be compatible Rolling Eyes

I would assume cabling some how?

Here's a pic from TFC's gallery, showing different mounting style from current LR lamps

That's my old D3 Thumbs Up

They're locating lugs for the LR lamp brackets. Brackets are designed to fit the LR spotlamps with two bolts for each but as you can see in the pic it's easy to mount other lamps (KCs in that case) too by just using one bolt one each side. As the nudge bars are EOL not sure if you can still get the brackets, TLO will know

Actually, looking at the position, I would say that it's for a bolt to go in to keep the spots in place? If yoiu take the lug out, is it threaded?

AFAIR you'd need a grinder to take the lugs off Confused

Looks like a round bracket of some sort. Must bang him off a mail about how he did it then. I know he has LF's on it now so due to the size he's probably drilled into the bar somewhere.

Is it to fit an adjuster/stabiliser for the lamps? In the olde dayes we used a straightened out Jubilee Clip between top of lamp and something solid to give precise adjustment and prevent shudder. These holes look just right for that.

Does anyone have the installation instructions for this bar? Does the bar cover the two sensors (distance) at the corners? or do they need to be deactivated somehow by the dealer?

I found a used bar of a 2009 LR3 for 85 quid and I am trying to figure out whether I can install it myself.

Thanks.
