Nav Screen Failed

Coming home just now, the Nav Screen went off and off course I lost all the functions connected with it (Nav, Audio, Telephone). I have an FCR so connected that and scrolled through the various functions. All those connected to the Nav Screen show a Comm 1 error but when I try to reset each of them on the FCR, they remain.

It's an 80 mile round trip to the Dealer. Any suggestions for a fix or am I destined for a workshop visit?

Mine failed back in the summer (screen froze at first and then went blank). It was accompanied by a low battery warning within 24hrs.

Turns out to be a software error with the Satnav that meant the unit stopped functioning but continued to drain the battery when the car was not in use. The fix involved a trip to the dealers and some new software and it is right as rain.

My D3 did this last year, all failed in the first really cold weather, a good drive/charge brought it all back online, so by the time you get to the stealers it will be sorted Thumbs Up

You might try disconnecting the battery for a few hours. Mine had a similar failure twice like this and the hard reset (disconnect battery, wait 20 mins, connect +ve and -ve leads) solved it for a while. Just had a service today and told that a software update should fix this - we shall see.

Cheers fellahs.

Eventually, I swapped the 10 amp fuse in slot No 61 in the glove box fuse board and the thing came back to life. Saved me a trip and hats off to Pete Bell for PM advice on the subject.

As an aside, slot No 16 has a 10 amp fuse for the chilled cubby box. I don't have a chilled cubby box so I wonder why the circuit is activated?

Typo Wiggs Thumbs Up - should have been 61 (Instrument Pack, Message Centre). 51 is a blank according to my hand book. It's probably sheer coincidence that it came back to life after swapping the fuse.

Still don't understand why 16 had a a fuse in when the circuit is not connected. Unless the diagram is incorrect.
