I have my new 6230i (not set up voice tags yet) & just fitted the CR3 cradle. Is there a simple test I can do to confirm if I need the "infotainment" patch/download?
Apologies, I haven't read the instructions, just looking for a short cut to save time. My HSE was built in March/April so it might not need the patch.

the patch is referred to in TSB LA419-005, released 4th of April 2006 and specifically mentions the Nokia 6230i
The TSB mentions that the patch is to be installed "On a customer request basis only"

Thanks TFC, but do you, or anyone else, know of a simple "test" to ascertain if I need the download or not?

if it works OK, you don't need the patch - if it doesn't work, you do need it

Apologies again, but I haven't read the instructions & have never seen the PTI in action. I was under the impression, possibly incorrectly, that the 6230i would work via the CR3 cradle, but without all the features that PTI allows, thus requiring the patch/download.
I was hoping that there would be some easy test to ascertain wether or not the patch was needed.

dunno mate, not got a Nokia or the cradle, I would check to see if all the advertised features work OK before asking for the patch. the only other way is for the dealers to confirm the software level.
connecting a cradle and phone without the latest software won't cause any system to fail

Guess, I'll just have to set up some voice tags on my new Nokia & then read the PTI instructions

I have PTI ...haven't bothered with the cradle or Nokia though...I just use voicetags over bluetooth.... this is more than adequate for most needs without the added expense 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Too late, CR3 purchased, money wasted! I actually thought it would be nice to have the phone out of the way & charging. In reality, I expect I'll just end up forever forgetting to remove the phone when I leave the car.
Anyone here actually use the full PTI system?

Some do I know....the convenience for me is that the phone is in my pocket ...I get into the motor...it connects to the PTI ......I make or receive calls as required whilst travelling.....get out of the motor ....walk away with phone still in pocket.
This is great for my purposes but if you are a heavy user and \ or make and receive call from peeps you don't necessarily know then the cradle will work for you.
Ultimately, like everything in life, it's down to personal preference 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I'm having quite a few "Ludite" moments recently, so I thought I'd make an effort to try to use the features/gadgets that the HSE has. Mastering/learning the Sat.Nav. & PTI is first on the list. Having previously used Smartnav & a fitted Nokia bluetooth kit, both of which had just one button, this is quite a daunting task.

I use the full PTI with the 6230. I got the cradel for £40 off a guy on RRS forum. I need the phone's list of numbers and the phone to be permanently charging as I'm a heavy user (not like that ) I don't think the quality is that great, but I don't like wires and chargers in the car. Never read the manual though so don't ask anything too technical DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

I believe there is no problem with the 6230 & the PTI software, It's the 6230i that needs the download. My D3 was built around the same time that the new download was being added to new cars. So I don't know if my D3 needs it or not.
It might be as simple as it just will not work without the correct software, but as I said I seem to recall that it will work, but not with all the functions. I'll suss it out tonight.

LT,
if you put the 6230i in the cradle and then try and access the phonebook and the display says 'memory empty' then you need the patch!
it might actually say this as well if it doesn't need the patch but there are no numbers in your 'phone memory but I haven't tried this myself...
