D4 rear air con query

D4 rear air con query

The D3 had the option of a rear a/c unit, very very useful for the extreme rear two seats in southern France and North Africa.
I am told by my dealer and Land Rover that the D4 does not now even have this option. How does this work in hot climates or do they do it for export and assume nobody from the UK uses their Discovery to go travelling further south than Dover?

The only sensible explanation I can find for this is that the standard a/c unit has been upgraded in the D4 with a greater Btu output and increased air flow to the rear with greater air flow for the ventilation to the rear.

However I have not been able to find any information - does anyone know?

Its a missing option in cold climates. its present in hotter climates.

I believe it can be requested as a special order but it suffers the same restrictions as rear sunroof, rear locking diff & RSE in that you can only have one of them.

Our local D4's have rear locking diiff , rear glass roof and rear aircon (HSE)

We were offered it when we placed our order two weeks ago for an XS. LR Discovery 4 XS pulling an Airstream 532 Caravan also own (since new) a 1996 MGF

Thanks for those replies, interesting that a UK dealer has been able to discuss it, yet in Melton Mowbray they look at their official paper work and I am told "no can do". I need to get them to ask more questions?

Ted, can I ask you which dealer you are using because I may give them a ring to find out why they can do what we cannot do here - if you see what I mean.
