LandRover front badge
I had some tw ing moron steal the LANDROVER badge from the bonnet.
Ok Rant over.
I cant afford to get this repaired at the moment and unlike some people I wont go an just take what isnt mine, so does anyone know of a good way of cleaning the sticky stuff off without further damaging the paint work?
It will have to be a de-baged landrover for now

I normally use "sticky label remover" aerosol from RS comps or I think Maplin do it as well, but failing that, WD40 makes a good substitute. trap a bit of rag under the bonnet edge so you don't get it all over the grille, then spray the remains of the foam and let it soak for a short while, you should find then that it will just rub/roll off with a bit of help from a soft rag.
(Don't you just detest the little that cause all the grief and extra work for nothing )Clive

Will that not take the varnish coat off the paint ? Not that I know much about paint.
WD40 is good as it should not damage paint.

There are sticky stuff removers available at most hardware stores. They come in aerosol cans. I used one to remove the crap from my motorbike's gas tank after I took the stupid stickers off it. They don't damage the paint. At least my bike's gas tank remained like new. Just make sure you wash the area well after using.

Thanks everyone, looks like a bit of experiment,
Dont like the sound of pertrol or white spirit - WD40 looks like the best bet.
The only problem that I can see if I clean it all and then decide get some new lettering I wont know where to stick it - , at the moment the bonnet has the template ...

The new lettering (assuming it is original LR) will come with a template for both letter spacing and alignment so don't worry. 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

Pledge furniture polish is great at removing sticky goo, spray it on and allow it to soak in, and whilst your there you can polish the rest of the car too
P.S. sorry to hear of the damage, little scroats should be hung drawn and quartered

It really angers me to hear about your theft experience. Goo Gone is a product out here that is commonly used for removing adhesive. I'd think that even a little olive oil from the kitchen would loosen it up. On a side note, how hard is it to replace the badge? Mine is severely chipped and faded and I'm not sure if I can get it replaced under warranty.

See my gallery for perfect alignment of the new badges. Cut cardboard or other material and tape it onto the bonnet, then place the new badges / letters against what you've taped and they will be perfectly aligned 16 D4 Landmark

Not really, what happens when you spill petrol or diesel when filling up......? Nothing really other than an oily mark until you next clean it. Bodsys Brake Bible
