| EGR Blanking Possible (2007 model) |

Hi all,
just been reading a post on EGR Blanking. my brother has a 07 Discovery and he is having fierce bother with EGR's. he has had them both or singularly replaced on different occasion's over the last 2 years, but each time he is outside the 12month new parts warranty. Some one commented in another thread that it is not possible to blank the egr's in a EURO4 engine! am i right in saying that its a euro 4 engine that is in the 07's! and why cant they be blanked/removed!! He is currently looking @ getting rid of them! any comments!

Euro4 has a tighter emision control, and therefore if you Blank the EGR's and remover the Butterfly Valve it will go into limp mode with the system fault showing on the dash.
Can't be done I am afraid, at the moment.....................BAS are working on it though

Mac,
how do you mean go into Limp mode!! Suspension lower down to access mode and all that. How far are B.A.S off of completing this do you know and is there much difference to what is required to Blank say an 06 model.

Ian u can phisicaly blank them and restore the power
however the engine light will remain on
there wont be any limping home or suspension lovering just friendly symbol of a chopper on dash

Mine is a Jan 2007 and was blanked off in 2008, not sure if I have
euro3 or early 4, will check it out. But later on in the year there had
been a change made in the electronics to check for air flow when the
EGR's are closed, thus the problems when they were blanked. D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.

According to BAS: "If your chassis number is a 5A or 6A chassis number this kit is compatable.
EG: SALLAAA12(5/6)A123456."

I don't want to have trouble when way out in the bush.... If the EML light is the only issue with Euro4, I will do it (and take the light out) but there are some reports of going into limp mode... then that is no option really.

my brother vin and mine are 7A  i have had my fair share of trouble witht them in the past too, aswell as my brother. replaced both EGR's once (warranty) and LHS & RHS on their own once.

Mine is a 7A, and doing some checking with LR parts dept there
is no reference to Euro 3 or 4 with my vin number. But there is a
part number change for the EGR kit for 2007 as a Euro stage 4
and again in 2009. so I believe I have the early Euro 4 spec. As
for the 6A to 7A SA spec, I was told only some interior changes
but we had E Diff as STD on all models. D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.

There could possibly be a way to blank them if we can confirm
that the sensor/'s ( the ones now telling the ECU they are blanked )
are air flow type and are positioned between the inlet manifold
butterfly and the air filter   D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.
