Timewasters really damage this forum. |
|
As this is a forum I assume I am allowed to voice an opinion? if not my post will be deleted.
I have recently tried to sell quite a bit of D3 stuff and have heaps more to sell, wheels. tyres, trim roof rails roofrack etc, etc.
I tried to put the stuff on the forum at reasonable prices and was open to haggling. Some members however screw things up by wasting my time and preventing others getting an item they actually want. The members either dont pay or change their mind because their stick insect has flu or their goldfish is having a crisis. This behaviour ruins things for everyone. These forums are great sources of info,,tips and masses of stuff not available elsewhere but some people sour things.

Think I purchased dog guard from you without any problems
But I did ship a set of 20" stormers to a forum member about a year ago with 50% thread on tyres fitted, included were two brand new general grabber 20" to suit wheels, cost me €80.00 to ship to B-Ham,forum member promptly collected the wheels and tyres at depot........but never paid
So I know exactly how you feel Bruce

I have one rule for selling on car forums - "the first one to put money in my account gets it, to the rest of you"
No "first dibs/reserved/ I'll take it but can't pay until my inheritance comes through etc etc" as all you get is hassle. 2014 D4 XS

Sadly, as ever in life, the minority spoil it for the majority
It's disappointing that it happens at all - but I would urge both buyers and sellers to be careful when trading, and use member information such as number of posts, length of time of being a member, nature of posts etc to determine whether to carry out a trade with them.
Remember that there's no entry test to be a site member, and the internet is open to all. We do now have the requirement to be established and a participating site member in order to sell, which lessens the risk of cowboy sellers.
The issue of poor/fraudulent buyers is more difficult to control, but I do have some advice - you may state sale restrictions if you want, remember you don't HAVE to sell if you're not sure about a buyer, secure a deposit or full payment before posting or handing over items, and if you need assistance then do drop me a line.
Be careful, and trade safely 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
Any issues with the site let me know!

WOW, thank you for the comments, it was a while back since I purchased the forward Expo Cross Bar from you, nice smooth transaction.
As for the timewasters, Yes I have to agree..........still sitting on an item I sold to a member thats still waiting to be be paid for and collected. I think its the MAGPIE syndrome, They have'nt got one so they want it, even though they dont need it. Then they re-think the delivery options, and back out.
If I buy something from a member, its then paid for and collected very quickly as I aim to treat those how I expect to be treated when selling.

He never paid for wheels or just the postage? Either way that is pants and a name and shame should be matter-of-course
Another outlook is that seller can sometimes be a tw@t, and not send even after monies have been transferred. It's just the underbelly of online life.
As said above, money in bank gets the goods. Then it's up to the honesty of the seller to uphold his end

Is it just me or does anyone else find it slightly ironic that Mac "he of the 40 fleeces" has written this?
Joking apart, I fully agree with this bit of his post:

Not paying for a set of wheels warrants more than a name a shame, I would say it fully deserves a visit from the D3 enforcers brigade!!!
Bang out of line Welcome "Lola"
