dashboard speaker volume

Finally got round to replacing the speaker in the instrument pack this weekend - thanks to the guys and gals on here Smile
I replaced it with one taken from an old lap top which was the right size (just about) so managed to get it to sit in the adapted housing. It works - hooray, I can now hear the indicator etc. BUT, the speaker is obviously a different impedance and is very quiet. Is there any way of increasing the volume to it using the 'secret button' on the sat nav screen or other way?
