Is this the most anal thread ever? |
|
Eyes down.....
whilst indicating left yesterday I was listening to the familiar tick tick of the indicator relay deep somewhere in the dash.
At the same time the 'put your seat belt' bong started.
What I noticed was that the tick tick of the 'relay' stopped so that the bong warning was more clearly heard even though the indicator continued to flash.
Does this means that;
a) the relay 'tick tick' is not a relay but is a synthesized sound?
b) landrover developed a fake 'tick tick' noise with my money?
Answers on a postcard.....

I have a 'part time' sat nav voice - she sometimes sits in the passenger seat
When 'doris' says "take the first exit at the next roundabout" . . . my part time sat nav voice will say "oh, I wouldn't go that way, it's quicker if you go straight on"
(and then we'll be lost) Never get mad - get even !!

So what's the explanation for "300 yard woman"
Is she stashed in the wheel arch or something? Long succession of Disco's since 2001...
SIII Lightweight - neglected & rusting. Bulkhead, A panels, vent panel & outriggers now disintegrated - Next years project!

I also found out on Saturday that the tick-tick disappears when you get the Bong to alert you that you have reduced gears, no HDC and a transmission problem...funnily enough it also has a companion message whereby the "D" disappears in the info display to be replaced by a nice big "F"...
And all of the above seems to coincidentally happen when you put it into Drive whilst you are still moving backward after reversing... The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
Club "yes, I too have had the EGR's replaced..."
Club "yes, I too have had the compressor replaced..."
Club "yes, I too once had the car at the dealer for a couple of weeks nearly 4 weeks over 4 weeks...5 weeks"
Club "yes, I too have had EPB failure..."
Club "yes, I too get mysterious bings and bongs..."

when we bought our D3 my other half was very impressed that the indicator "click" sounded very high quality, more so than our Mazda 323 and even more so than the old Saxo we had.
I'm not convinced the multi-million pound development into one of the most capable drive trains on the road, the excellent interior and all the other great features of the car are completely lost on her
