I use a pendle rack which fits to the tow ball. Works a treat, solid as a rock with 3 bikes (4 at a squeeze)...Disco 4 TDV6HSE

I have the Thule RideOn 9403 3 bike carrier and it works fine with the LR detachable tow bar. You simply drop it onto the ball and tighten it up - it's then solid and safe.Matt

I have faith in our 4 bike Pendle rack. Locks onto the detachable tow hook nad feels totally secure. Even when I forgot that they were there and enjoyed the car!
So it seems that Matt is the only person with a Thule, but not the same one as I was looking at.
Does anyone have the Euro version I mentioned in the first text, and can give me feedback.
I have seen the Pendle ones and did think about them first, but I have seen some negative comments about damage to the ball, is this true?
Back to the Thule units, I have found several places on teh Web, but can anyone recomend a good supplier who is relaible and offers a good price and service.

I have the THULE Euro way cycle Carrier 947 3 bike carrier.
It fits perfectly on the landrover removable towbar. Very secure.
This will hold three bikes.

Nigel I have a Pendle one which has damaged the ball, which is why I have got a second hitch as my caravan uses an Alko hitch which uses friction pads to stabilise the van. The carrier that they did a deal on recently looked good and could be locked on which the Pendle can't.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Towball damage is my primary concern - these towbars are expensive !
Nige, have you looked at this sites (interesting alternatives to Thule)

Nigel,
I wasn't aware of towball damage so had a quick check. We used our Pendle last year approx 10 times, there is no sign of damage to the detachable swan neck towbar. I have to admit that now I leave the pendle unit clamped onto the tow bar and then when not wanting it remove them as one unit. As for safety we bought approx 1.5 m chain and locked it through the bikes.
Hope this helps.

Just towed my caravan with Alko with the 4 bike MaxRaxx rack on that I bought a week or so back.
The rack seemed stable with my mountain bike, my wife's and a tag-along bike hanging on it, although it was a bit crowded. Had to remove the front wheel of my wife's bike so it didn't hit the A Frame on the caravan.
The bracket that clamped the bracket to the towball however snagged on my Alko 2004 stabiliser so Max of MaxxRaxx came and modified the bracket so it didn't snag. I will post some photos shortly under a different thread as this is one of the selling points of this rack.
The rack itself is great but the clamp for the swanneck seems like a little refining is needed, plus clearance between the upright and the back bumper is very close.
For those that are interested, I took some photos of my Thule rack today.
See more in my Gallery, Accessories.

Thanks to D3matt and nigelpugh for advice on bike racks.
there are some pictures of the Thule Euro Classic 903 in my gallery fitted to the removeable tow ball.
Thanks guys! Some say the glass is half full. Others that it is half empty. I say 'Are you drinking that?"
