OMG im in Limbo !!!
Firstly, I will apolergise for my first post being a cry for help !!!!
I live in Spain, where cars generally are way overpriced and have NO spec at all. I have recently sold my RS4 with a view to getting a Disco 3, I found a LHD one in the UK with more spec than anything out here. I was ready to go but a pal put me off by saying “but its not a Range Rover†!!! So I go looking for a Range Rover, again nothing in my price range with any spec at all, so then I go looking at an X5. All this time ive still got a Disco on my brain !!! So here is where I need help……………
Should a wait until the RR comes up or go for the Disco ?
Does anyone know the differences in running costs etc ?
The Car in mind is a 09 HSE with the following spec
Land Rover Discovery 3 HSE 2.7 TDV6 Automatic (2009MY version)
Metallic Santorini Black
Premium Leather
Premium Navigation System
Adaptive Xenons
Piano Black Wood trim
3 x Sun roofs
7 Seater Version
Side steps
22" Stormer alloys wheels with Toyo Proxes ST rubber (tyres have only covered approx 5000 km so plenty of life left.
Harmon Kardon Logic 7 Sound system with 6 disc changer and input for Ipod
Heated seats front and back
Mini Fridge in console
Heated front windscreen
Factory tinted windows
The car came with the usual 3 year manufacturers warranty which means there is over two years of warranty left on the vehicle.
Taxed for the next 6 months
First Service due end of this month
The car has a little over 14000 km at the moment which equates to about 8650 miles
What is it missing and what will be as standard but not mentioned ?
Guys I really am sorry for this post but I am going round in circles and the lack of ANY help from Land Rover out here is a joke.
I guess it would be beneficial to tell you guys that it would hardly ever be doing any serious off road stuff. I do about 1000 kms per week and the car would be mainly used for this purpose and work, im an estate agent !!!!

Hi John,
I've just bought a 2006 HSE D3, after a thourough market research. To drive the RR are mostly intended to go straight. Winding roads are not comfy because of body roll. The Disco has a much better roadholding and is more comfortable to steer. The RR have a 'heavy' feel [resistance] when steering into a bend. The D3 drives more as a RR sport [which in fact is a D-chassis with a 'sporty RR' body stuck on it...]. IF the service in Spain is so lousy, why by a LR at all? Even if you have factory warranty, you'd still have a hardtime having it repaired...
There's a very sad posting of someone on this site who did by a D3 in Spain, had problems with guaranty issues,
and LR factory replied : though luck , get in touch with LR Spain... So if I were you [living in spain] I would ask
around, even with a local 4x4 club or drivers of other makes, how they experience the service of the dealer and
importer... Anyway, read this site and check the pages with technical problems, so you know what you''re up agianst buying a LR. On the other hand : horror stories also excist on BMW/Merc, even Toyota...

Hi John, go for the D3, as Ave said lots more room and it sounds like a good spec. Why buy a car when you can buy a Land Rover.....because I'm worth it.

We are biased here... I'd rather buy a house off someone with a Disco! A RR says I am raking in the commission!
It looks a beaut. I imagine it has Park Distance Control as well (front and rear). If you have photos you'll see the little sensors (or not) on the bumpers.
Other special options include locking rear diff - but I don't suppose you care.
32k miles a year is going to be heavy on fuel (although not as bad as an RS4). Guess it depends who's paying.

More versatile than a RR Had a FFRR for a halfday LRE and was glad to get back in my D3. No one lets you out at junctions its worse than driving a BMW! Club N.E.R.D.s
