Intermittent Intermittent wipers

Just spent a week in Skye, on the journey up the intermittent wipers decided they would rather not do as they should and remained on 'normal speed' with no pause. Occasionally they will pause very briefly and then resume normal continuous wiping.
Fortunately,(for the wipers but not the camping!) it didn't stop raining for the week and I didn't need the intermittent capability.... Now I'm back in tropical Wales I'd like to get it sorted.
Any suggestions ?
I started off with nothing and Ive still got most of it left.

Sure you're not on the rain-sensing setting... rather than intermittent?

Comanche,

I thought i did not have them on my S until i pushed the stalk onto the first notch for intermitant and when it started raining a bit heavier they started to constantly wipe,

so you may have the rain sensing ones Thumbs Up

the way i checked was to leave the stalk in the first notch and waited to see if anything happened when it was dry

Flick some water onto the rain sensor and see if it actives the wipers?

You definatley have the sensor on the windscreen, on the outside it is in front of the rear view mirror?

I find mines works on Auto setting at this position. Stalk up one click and speed setting as in photo.

Have you tried to adjust the sensitivity of the intermittent by turning the ring on the stalk, it could be on its max setting?

No rain sensor in front of the mirror so I assume it isn't fitted, Ive also tried adjusting the speed setting with no difference.
i guess its either the stalk switch or ECU. Couldnt be a simple as the old Ford Capri days when you could pick up a relay for a couple of quid and sort it in a minute!!
