United Kingdom 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 S Manual Arctic FrostDiscovery 3

Very useful posts everyone, I am going to go for a 1/2" drive 22mm socket like MJ.

Maybe a torque wrench would be a good investent to a void over tightening, as per d3matt?
Question
Don't put it off, go for it!

I purchased one of these the other day http://www.drapertools-online.com/b2c/b2ci...kmno=19152

It comes with two reversible sockets, so you get 4 different sizes. The telescoping arm works a treat for undoing tight nuts. Well worth the £12.

T' is a darn good idea to use a 1/2" drive 22mm socket and a knuckle bar / torque wrench, also recheck the torque a couple of times over a few days after the initial torque up, I certainly found mine had loosened off. Had a D2 that dealership changed wheels on once and actually lost a wheel nut due to it working loose, within 2 days of fitment.

Got 2 on order, £7 each. Also got a new LR wheel wrench (under warranty) and a new jack as that packed up today as well. Roll on the air jacks!

As an ex-mechanic on London Buses, there procedure is to tighten all wheel nuts with a torque wrench and nuts MUST be re-checked with a torque wrench 24 hours later. Any loose nuts have to be investigated or re-checked again in another 24hrs.

Not teaching most of you to suck eggs....but for those who don't know NEVER leave a torque wrench set for any length of time, always store the torque wrench at 0lbs/fft.

Little tip. If you are going to buy a socket get a single hex rather than a double hex. The single hex will help to keep your nuts in better shape Rolling Eyes
