I'm no engineer, but even with my deeply limited, Carroll Smith-derived knowledge, it seems poor practice for a bolt doing that kind of job to be threaded along its entire length.

Stock LR bolt is rated 10.9, may be it will be better to change with a 12.9 rated bolt.....

Nice idea, but I wonder how insurance companies (UK) would view this and in your opinion, do you think you’ll know if the bolt shears with this device fitted or would it be a case of regular checks?012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

In my case, the bolt has been bent during an off road session and i have driven the car for about 5000 km before the crack, happened while driving on a rough road in 3rd low gear where the bolt has collapsed and my rear wheel sway away from a straight line...
I really don’t know about Mot or insurance, but these brackets certainly improve the safety of the car, i don’t want to think about if this cheap and single bolt is going to collapse on highway
With brackets installed the possibility of bending the bolt is really remote - Easy-Lift suspension module 4.0

Presumably, when fitted, even if the bolt were to break, the angle would keep the arm pressed into the hub?My D3 Build Thread

No Mikey, that is a consequence of,
The bracket is focused on the avoidance of bending the bolt end due to impact in offroad or while offroading with heavier wheels and extra height.
For this reason the bracket secure the bolt just under his head, so the total force from the rod is not applied only to the end but on the end and the head (of the bolt), avoiding any possibility to bend the bolt.
A bent over bolt is stressed at every articulation of the rear arm via the alignment rod and as like as an iron wire it will collapse sooner or later...
Usually rear independent suspensions has “multi” link rods to maintain the wheel aligned... on our D3/4 this is demanded to a single rod fixed to the wheel hub via the end (few mm) of a bolt
In my opinion this is not so safe.
P.S. just to clarify that i’m not a sponsor and i’m not involved in any business with brackets maker - Easy-Lift suspension module 4.0
