Hmm, that bolt is starting to look like an Achilles' heel back there. Here is a "nightmare scenario", happened to a fellow local LR club member while we were riding a long rutted road at high speed in the middle of Death Valley a few months back... Far away from civilization. The loose control arm even punched through his expensive alloy wheel before he was able to stop. He had to wait a few hours for a tow truck to come from Las Vegas to get him, not fun to get stranded in Death Valley. Las Vegas LR dealer paid for everything, tow included, but still.
Maybe LR should take a look at those bolts and/or their torque specs, they seem to snap awfully easy. The first car above was an almost brand new 09, first time off road, so I don't think stress was a factor.Umberto B

Oh! Now I'm worried!!!!!! an '09! So the bolt specs have not changed then....
Maybe we should get 'better' bolts? Stronger? I really do not want to go through this again! It spoiled a camping weekend!
Anyone know the 'grade' of the OEM bolts?
Maybe check the torque before every outing? Any idea of torque specs....

Seeing the recent reports of this my offroad buddy and I both purchases extra bolt for about $6 to carry with us offroad. Also the tools to remove the sheered bolt in the field. Other then the headache if it were to happen, the costs are minimal for the security.
