New starter motor is elusive - HELP! |
|
Starter motor is failing intermitantly on my 55 plate D3 so much so i've stopped taking it anywhere in case i get stranded, so got hold of the local stealers - Matford, and got it booked in for a replacement tomorrow morning - all good i thought! Not so!
Got a phone call today to say that the starter is on back-order to the 24th SEPTEMBER!
Am i just supposed to park the D3 up for a month!!??!! Dont think so!
So, does anyone know where i can get one!!?? Any dealers out there with one in stock..... You only live once, but if you work it right, once is enough.

You'd want to confirm part numbers, but :-
2nd hand on ebay
new on ebay
Also - always worth checking SniffyDog for 2nd hand parts in my experience..... just ensure you give them email only, unless you enjoy agreeing to buy something for £x over the phone, only to get a phone call 10mins later with another on offer for 50% of that.

Thanks TT, I've asked them for the part no to make sure its the right one, but i understand that there may be a new starter to the original as some one did tell me that the part no has changed.
Do you (or anyone!) know what the part no is/was/should be! You only live once, but if you work it right, once is enough.

Whats the issue with the starter ??
Most reasons are because of solenoid failure and used to be a case if needing a whole New motor replaced
LR have recently released part numbers of solenoids for all their starters for approx £60
I'll look numbers out in the morning
edited because of iphone keypad and fat fingers TLO has left the building.......

ok next on list
starter NAD500080E is backordered
next stock into packing is 17th Sept, at the moment nothing seems to be able to bring this forward
you could go critical
ask dealer to raise to critical and option of new in lieu
there is new part stock available under pn
NAD500330
YOU WILL ALSO NEED A BRACKET NAU500110 to fit this new starter as it's the 08my onwards version
HTH
Nick TLO has left the building.......

Nick - any chance they're still based on Nippon starters like the D2? (very similar to a load of plant/agric stuff so you could any decent auto electrician to replace the solenoid/contacts). 2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +
2022 Tesla Model Y LR... almost Carpathian Grey
Previously : 2005 TDV6 SE Auto, Cairns Blue (288K) - ours for 16 years

well the old girl's still in the dealers - they managed to get a starter on Friday - fitted it ad that one also failed Then went to collect it today and the service manager showed me the absolute bodge job the independant LR garage has made of putting the new engine in! so they've got one of the independants 'technicians' coming to the dealer tomorrow to be shown what needs to be sorted..
boo hoo i just want my car back!!!! You only live once, but if you work it right, once is enough.
