So, what do people think to the LR Head and Tail lamp guards?

I fitted them, but they have no practical use at all. In fact, the oposite - because it makes it difficult to clean the lights. They're purely for the look.

I don’t see the point of them at all.

They’re purely cosmetic & as “d3matt” has said they get in the way of cleaning the lamps.

So my vote is cast in the negative.

I had them on the D2 but as said here already ..little or no protection is offered in reality.

Agree with all of the above but might use as template for more robust ones

I thought the same as all of you....Until i hit a pheasant doing 80 mph (no the pheasant was not the one doing 80mph) and after £300 + for a replacement i have been concidering front guards.
I wish i was going slower it might have suffered before it died ...as i have (ha ha ..joke honest)

For £32 you could have a set of these which protect the whole light

I have 3m film on the front lights, but the rears do look very vulnerable. Like others though, I feel that the LR guards afford minimal protection.

The rear light clusters cost about the same to replace as the guards cost ISTR

thanks slimer,
I will get some of them, wish I knew about them a couple of weeks ago, before the pheasant incident!

IMO, this is what a forum is about.

You'd have to be going some to hit a pheasant backwards at 80 mph! Wink

Slimers ones are pretty smart. Saw his car last night and you cant see the guards unless you look really closely. I guess you could even put LR ones over the top for the looks?

I quite like them, cosmetic I know, and yes a Censored to clean, but that's more the problem of the 'oik' I pay to do it for me, than an issue for me.

I think it adds a little to it's bulk and rugged good looks. Shocked
