Auxillary Power to the Rear Load Space |

ok, with reference to this thread I did

I am now in the process of thinking of trailing the power to the rear loadspace, HOW & WHERE?
I am after one, maybe two plug in Aux power sockets, and the cable to the rear. Anybody enlighten me with the recommended gage of cable and whether I should be inline fusing?
I am more mechanical the sparky, so in lamen terms would be appreciated

Somebody recently suggested along top of chassis an up behind rear light cluster to come through into where jack stowed. A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. what Traxide kit did you get...?
The LR kit comes with all the right cables at the right length along with two 12v sockets. The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Just got the D3 specific set up with no extension to rear, fund limited when purchased. Have mailed Traxide for the kit to rear, but opening options John

if you check the website I think they give indications of the wire gauge and possibly the lengths ?
If you let me have an e-mail address I can send you the install instructions - that way you can run whatever cables you get in the interior of the vehicle. Trust me - its not that difficult to do and much better then faffing around with exterior cables. The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

I used 4mm copper x 2, which will give you approx 60A (but I have fused at 30A) Never get mad - get even !!
06 D3 now gone to family member and still going strong at 265k
previous vehicles:

(Probably Traxide wouldn't mind since the hardware sale is their business...)

Tim (drivesafe on here) from Traxide has actually posted the full instructions for the D3 kit on the Ausie LR forum, have a look here.
Bought the full kit from them, cable a little bit of a pain to thread under the sill as suggested, ended up prising up the floor and actually fitting under there as the channel under the sill is too narrow for the supplied sheathed cable. (they actually suggest doing so in their D4 fitting instructions). That said, it's a fab piece of kit and Tim a very helpful chap
I also got some additional 175amp Anderson plugs as the supplied 50amp ones are fine for jumpstarting smaller cars (they will handle up to 180amp momentarily), but I think the D3 starter motor for example will draw slightly more for a longer period ==> Guide - Inexpensive AV Modification

A bit OT but I have the Traxide kit and put two permanently live AUX sockets in the rear load space. As stated running the cables under the trim is the way to go and is easy.
I put the power cables into a marine fuseboard and then run the AUX sockets plus a rear light from that. The one I use has 6 fused outlets but you can get 8 or 12 I believe.
I also put a fused marine AUX socket under the bonnet. That way you can plug in an inspection light if you have to work on the engine or change a tyre in the dark or you can plug in your tyre compressor.
