Voice Activation

The telephone voice activation seems to work really well (e.g. Phone Dial Name, Phone Dial Number, Phone Store Name etc). However, it's supposed to take other commands as well to control the radio and CD. Whenever I try these commands, it doesn't understand them (and thinks I'm making phone requests). Does the voice activatiion for radio and CD only work with some models? I have the premium audio system on an 'S' with PTI added.

Thanks in advance...

The voice control that you describe as missing is not fitted to you car, unless you have the premium navigation system.

The voice control module carries the voice software in your vehicle and only controls the phone; on vehicles with the premium navigation, whether they have PTI or not, the voice control software is carried on the navigation computer.

Bloody annoying though. I asked exactly the same question on this forum about a year ago when I bought my SE. Had the salesman explained ALL the features, I would have considered paying the extra for the premium sat nav.

Just a dumb question that may already have been asked...

I do have the Hi-Fi Premium pack but no phone module... Can this one be retrofitted ? Is it easy or is that a "dealer only" mod ?

PS : I did my homework... Wink Still wondering though... Wink

You can get the dealer fit version, doesn't have the full functionality of the factory fit one but if you're just intending on using bluetooth it should be fine

Is it not DIY??

I was hoping it was. I checked out the installation procedure on the GTR and it seemed mostly 'plug & play'.

I hope not Gurvan.

Does anyone out there know??

My dealer quoted AUD2500 (approx GBP1000) to fit the kit. I was rather hoping that it would be considerably cheaper to do myself.

I 'DIYed' mine, got the dealer to do the steering wheel controls as I didn't fancy taking the airbag off (though there are some on here that have) but did the rest myself

Out of interest, how much did you pay for the kit?

Oh!.

I might email a few dealers around here, the UK and US to see if I can land one cheaper than my dealer is offering.
