Hi all,
without searching too hard through the (Bible) Forum..
The brake pad sensors just come in with the warning light, how many miles do i have to safely travel now. Especially as its Bank hols and need vehicle, had a quick look they still have 5mm im sure. Looks like even wear front/rear.
PS clocked 33500mls on the original pads.

The sensor will become 'active' when the pads are at (or below) 3mm left, also you won't know if it's the front or rear unless you check 
But, beware, there is only ONE sensor on each axle set, (front nearside & rear offside) so the other set of pads on the same axle may be worn more, best to get them changed as quickly as you practically can  Never get mad - get even !!

Totally agree have not moved her since the alarm came in. I think 3mm is more like it not as previously 5mm.
What is the thickness of the new pads as:- new pad miles divided by miles etc etc = posssible miles left before damage???? gives an equation of miles left. This may differ on region depending on hill etc, remember i live on the flat lands
Just had a thought, if i had an accident with the brake warning saying low or check those pads would the insurance company go into the little black box and check this, just a thought,.....

Apny, the distance/time you have left to do them is totally dependant on your driving style. I did about 300 miles after mine came on, 100 or so of those were motorway miles so not much braking.
When I repalced them, they still had a couple of mm left, so would probably have lasted a few more hundred, but best be safe.
New pads are about 8mm think from memory.
33500 is good going for a set of pads on the heavy D3 I changed my first set at 25k
As for insurance company, only if it had an impact on the accident. i.e. if someone hit you, then it's irrelevant, but if you drove over a zebra crossing killing a few kids on the way because you couldn't stop in time, then yeah I'd say they'd look into it.......

Yes jacking is a time think its a JSF.co.uk in Norwich job (non dealer remedy) as time is calling for back to sea on Wednesday

My warning light came on and thought it was time for pads, when they checked it was the wire for the sensor that was worn with some Muppet (not me!!) using a cable tie to keep them out of the way....cost to replace a tenner each side...

My rear sensor was broken, did not give any signal, pads were 0mm......

10forCash replaced both sets of pads on our D3 yesterday. It's only just done 23K miles - 5K since we've had it a couple of months. The LCD brake pad warning came on last week. Pads had a couple of mm left on them.
He also spotted front offside wheel bearing has a bit of play in it 
EPB stuck on today - I think that needs adjusting too
Nails. All of 'em. Nails.
