The air suspension pipe failed at 2.700 miles in auto HSE TD. Pipe melted as it was touching another hot pipe. Dealer repaired using Range Rover Parts. Limped back to dealer - 150 miles!

My suspension failed at 2800 miles in leeds a couple of weeks ago, Land Rover assistance told me that the air compressor had failed and that they would arrange for the vehicle to be recovered to my dealership in Chesterfield. The recoevery agents also managed to take a chunk out of my rear alloy wheel with the tie down strap my dealership have told me that they will replace this wheel but they are on back order at the moment! I got the vehicle back two days later and all was well until today (200 miles later) when I got a chime and then a message to say that their was a suspension fault along with another message saying that the vehicle would raise when the system has cooled down. Now waiting for LR assistance again 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Oh dear, this is becoming far too common, I would not accept any flim flam from your dealer. There is definitly an issue to be dealt with here. Mine has been OK for a good while now, but I had three failures before that dealer replaced the wiring loom. Now I am told I need new height sensors to stop it leaning to the left.

Just spoken to my dealer to see when I might get the vehicle back to be told that the compressor has gone yet again I was also told that they are on backorder and it could take anywhere between 3 days and 3 weeks for a new one to arrive Going to go and see my sales man tonight as Im not very happy. Will have to see what options I have as the vehicle is neary 6 months old. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Finally got the car back, the service manager has told me that they have fitted a redesigned compressor as Land Rover having had a few failures have found the problem. He also told me that LR would be getting in touch to offer me some compensation Ill let you know what that is when I find out. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Hi,
Would be interested to hear what kind of offer LR offer if that would't be too intrusive.
My 4 month old 4k TDV6 'S' manual has just hooped its compressor and I am not exactly happy with the inconvieniece as it is my almost daily tow car. LR assist have nothing with a towbar
Losing my sense of humour slowly. My defender 90 never let me down like this in 3 years.

Hi Mike,
Spoke to LR about this earlier today as I have not heard from them yet, they told me that they were dealing with it at the moment and would get back to me soon.
However this afternoon the suspension failed yet again
I spoke to the sales manager at my dealership about the possibility of LR swapping the vehicle but he told me that I would need to contact LR again. Now done this and they have told me that my sales manager would need to contact them I will be seeing him again in the morning and Ill let you know the outcome.

Hi Paul,
Sounds like we are getting the run-around, due to the lack of LR's forward planning, admiting to a problem with supplies/supliers. Possibly a lack of testing before bringing the product to market. Why didn't this show up with the test mules?
My latest news as of 5pm is that LR cust serv are trying to action lifting a compressor from the production line stock, but they had to follow some protocols?! or some such BS.
If you look at my thread in Technical (Suspension Compressor failure) there's some more info.
Dealer has had car since Friday last week, so not too long, but I need to tow & can't.
So going to give them till Friday, then they get a letter giving them 7 days to repair or replace the vehicle as vehicle 'not suitable for the purpose for which it was sold'.
Regards Mike

LR cust serv replied an hour ago.
Can't do a line pinch for the compressor as it has now become 'such a big issue'.
Problem has reched 'management level'
Dealer trying to find a car with tow bar somewhere for me.
CATERPILLAR supply the new compressors LR cust cervice let slip.

Got my Disco back today after the latest suspension fault - was very surprised to find that this time the compressor was ok. The fault this time had been caused by some wiring and the pressure switch coming loose - not sure where these were located. I was getting quite a few error messages and chimes until it went in this morning to be fixed. The error messages I got were as follows (some of the wording may not be exact).
Suspension fault - Normal height only.
30 MPH Max
Suspension Failure.
System Fault
Terrain Response failure
Special Programs off
I also started to get hiccups when accelerating - some quite nasty as well.
My dealers Sales Manager told me that he had also spoken to LR about the problems I had had and he was waiting for them to get back with some suitable compensation. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

hi to you all, TD6 S amber light to park brake came on twice called out LR assist only to be told that LR are aware of the problem and the computer needs to be cleared of the fault and then remapped , i asked the question why sell me a car with a fault on it his reply we are not sure whitch cars were affected so we just wait until the customer complains. good customer skills here then . also large plastic cover to windscreen A post off side departed company from the car whilst traveling at speed on the moterway the lugs which hold it to the car had broken off whilst being fitted at factory. this ontop of being sold a TDV6 S WHICH WAS ONLY A 7 Seater base model leaves one a little worried about anything that my dealeship tells me. hi Dom,my only concern was that had i not of attened the landrover show at gaydon on the day after me picking up the car then i would of been lemoned with a car three years down the line which when selling on would not be the car that i have paid for , i cannot see the dealership changing the car after three years . another point rasied at the show, how can a dealership have a car for demo and not know the right spec. still i now have a new L3TDV6S 05 plate instead of a ex demo due to them not being able to find me another demo L3TDV6S with the same amount of milage onit. cheers alan OWNER OF A TDV6S 05 PLATE
