Land Rover should be getting involved with it if it is still under manufacturers warranty

I've got first dibs Rich.
That's the problem with posting - I'll be looking out for the wreck to come up over here for the same reason!
There was a flooded D4 auctioned off last week in Perth - statuatory write off following the hail storm. Went for $26,000! Heard it went to an Eastern States buyer.

You're not supposed to light the camp fire inside the car Clive

Burnt Disco Update
In the newspaper today a follow up story says;
"A Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said the fire had been caused by an electrical fault in a fridge, which had been installed in a Land Rover Discovery. The vehicle which the owner had bought in April, suffered damage estimated at $100,000 and was a write off."
Only this week I bought a genuine fridge online!
I hope it was an aftermarket fridge - but why would it be running or turned on at 3:32am?

Hi Folks
2 years ago at the Waddington air show someone lit a disposable barbi in the boot of their car to keep it out of the rain.
With predictable and humorous shenanigans to follow.. Regards Flanker

Well - fingers crossed - I installed the genuine fridge unit this afternoon. Hopefully no bonfires tonight.
My first experience in pulling the D3 apart. All in all took about 15 minutes of my (non experienced) labour! I was amazed how it all plugs together.
Thanks to the Disco3 forum for the confidence and leads to finding a cooler box unit. TLO is sending the cover part so a truely international exercise.

Well you wouldn't want a warm beer for breakfast would you??
Poss it had stuff packed around it like the Ausie D3 that burned out couple of years ago. Drew too much juice in a useless attempt to get to target temp and burned out wiring (ISTR).
PD also fitted central cooler cubby couple of weeks ago in case we have a summer, easypeasylemonsqueezie!
